Winning streak continues at Ustecka 21

Two-day hill climb race in Czech Usti nad Orlici was again a one-team-show of Slovak L Racing Team. Their driver Veroslav Cvrcek Jr. needs to do the last step to retain the title of absolute Slovak Champion.
Famous competition Ustecka 21 with 21 technical corners showed also this year’s big interest in competitors. 170 drivers tried to do their best on that 3650 meters long hill. The winner of the bonnet cars category was, however, the same on both competition days. Veroslav Cvrcek Jr. won with his Skoda Fabia RS2000 by eight seconds on Saturday and by 20 (!!!) seconds on Sunday. But to this result „helped“ retirement of Igor Drotar because of a technical failure.
Veroslav Cvrcek Jr: „I took part in this race last season for the first time and I won, broke the track record and secure the championship before the end of the season. That is why I have only positive memories. This hill climb has a long tradition and is very well organized and of course, with enthusiasm. The track is really technical and slow. There are many corners where you cannot see properly, so it isn‘t easy to drive in them correctly. Saturday was alright, I won both drives and defeated Igor Drotar by four seconds. I was also the fastest car and broke track record from last year by a little. Igor Drotar did not start on Sunday as he had engine failure. It made the way to the victory easier, but it was still important not to make a driving mistake and we wanted to avoid any engine failure as well. Anyway, I did not want to change my tactics or tempo, it would be awkward to drive extremely carefully and disappoint all these great spectators who were around the whole track. I drove on my own and moved my driving abilities forward. Thanks to a perfectly prepared car, which was so easy to control, I could break the track record again by one second and won by 20 seconds. Jan Liptak: „Ustecka 21 was running more or less according to our plans and I believe that we will not miss our second absolute Slowakian Hill Climb Championship. Does not matter whether some „professional“ media give information about it or not…“
